It's been a year and eight months since there have been any fatalities on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan as a result of gunfire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reiterated this.
He also called Azerbaijan's announcement to lift restrictions on cargo transit historic, marking the first stage in lifting the blockade against Armenia. Pashinyan emphasized that relations with Azerbaijan are now built on a peace agenda, and this is reflected in the government's daily work.
"We must nurture the established peace so that it strengthens and becomes more institutionalized. Of course, we continue to work with Azerbaijan on this issue, continuing to work through diplomatic channels. Contacts are also ongoing at various levels," Pashinyan noted.
He recalled that the next parliamentary elections will be held in June, which will be the answer to this key question.
"The people of the Republic of Armenia must reaffirm their commitment to peace with their vote. Otherwise, it will slide into conflict and the logic of an outpost," the prime minister said.
