Pashinyan Expects Border with Turkey to Open Soon and Cargo Transit through Azerbaijan

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed hope for the rapid opening of the Armenian-Turkish border. This statement was made at the 5th Silk Road Forum in Tbilisi. Pashinyan emphasized that the positive dialogue with Turkey inspires optimism.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister stated Armenia's readiness to ensure transit for the construction of pipelines and power lines from Azerbaijan to Nakhichevan, as well as along the Azerbaijan-Armenia-Turkey route. He also noted Armenia's political readiness to establish a railway connection between Turkey, Nakhichevan, and Azerbaijan, acknowledging the need for repair and restoration of infrastructure.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence that these technical issues will be resolved within two to three years.

"All of this is being discussed within the framework of the TRIPP project, together with our Azerbaijani and Turkish partners. The most important condition for implementing all of this is peace, which was established between Armenia and Azerbaijan following the Washington summit. We are currently working on institutionalizing peace and signing and ratifying the agreement with Baku. All communications will open, bringing historic changes to our region," Pashinyan said.

Earlier, he expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for lifting restrictions on cargo transit through Azerbaijan to Armenia.
