Pashinyan Decides Not to Support Vardanyan for Peace with Azerbaijan

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has refused to support the initiative of the family of Ruben Vardanyan, the former head of the unrecognized Karabakh government, to appeal to former US President Donald Trump with a request for his release. This was reported by the Armenian newspaper "Hraparak".

It is reported that influential representatives of the Armenian diaspora in the United States have secured preliminary support from Trump, but an appeal from the Armenian authorities was required for official intervention. Pashinyan, according to the newspaper's source, rejected the offer, fearing that this could negatively affect the peace process with Azerbaijan.

Ruben Vardanyan and other Armenian figures are currently under arrest in Baku and are charged under a number of articles of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan, including war crimes and terrorism.
