Russian border guards will leave Yerevan airport on August 1. They will be replaced by Armenian colleagues, said Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Earlier, the press secretary of the Russian President Peskov said that Moscow had received a notification from Yerevan about the cessation of the work of Russian border guards at the Yerevan airport. Pashinyan also spoke about his status in the pro-Russian military-political bloc CSTO.
“If the CSTO answers the question of where ITS zone of responsibility is in Armenia, and this answer corresponds to our vision, then we will consider that the issue between us has been resolved. If not, then Armenia will leave the CSTO,” Pashinyan said.
In conclusion, the Prime Minister spoke about cooperation with the EU within the framework of a strong and deep relationship. The start of the process could be visa liberalization, providing a liberal regime for Armenian goods, deepening cooperation in the security field, even expanding the capabilities of the EU mission and extending the mandate of European observers for another two years.
