Pashinyan: There will be no war between Armenia and Azerbaijan

The draft agreement on peace and the establishment of interstate relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan has been agreed upon and is awaiting signing. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

“Despite all internal and external provocations, there will be no war between Armenia and Azerbaijan, there will be peace. We will follow this path. Our region has earned the right to live in peace and prosperity, and this is how it should be,” the Armenian Prime Minister emphasized.

Pashinyan recently stated that the country's new Constitution should not contain a reference to the Declaration of Independence. It speaks of the need to reunite Armenia with the Azerbaijani territories in Karabakh. Baku demands that Yerevan exclude such territorial claims from the Constitution in order to conclude a peace treaty. Pashinyan intends to hold a referendum on the adoption of the new Constitution in 2027, and possibly earlier - in parallel with the parliamentary elections in 2026.

In January, the Armenian Prime Minister published his proposals for achieving peace with Azerbaijan. Among other things, he indicated the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group (of which Russia is a member) and the conclusion of a peace treaty.
