Reappointed Georgian Prime Minister Intends to Pursue Pragmatic Policy with Russia
At today's session, the Georgian Parliament, represented by the ruling Georgian Dream party, approved a new government. Irakli Kobakhidze was reappointed as the country's Prime Minister.

The newly appointed Prime Minister promised that Georgia would maintain a pragmatic policy in relations with the Russian Federation. It must protect its strategic interests.

According to Kobakhidze, Georgia has its own "red lines".

"This is related to the de-occupation of our territories. We have our own goals, and these red lines will be maintained until the end. And at the same time, we will, of course, maintain a pragmatic policy with the Russian Federation," the head of the Cabinet noted.

It is noteworthy that in October, Irakli Kobakhidze announced that there were no plans to restore diplomatic relations with Russia. Let us recall that they were severed by Tbilisi's decision in 2008 as a result of the introduction of Russian troops into Georgia and the Kremlin's recognition of the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

In addition, today the European Parliament adopted a resolution
in which it condemned numerous violations in the parliamentary elections held in Georgia and called for a repeat vote. The European Parliament also called on EU countries to impose sanctions against the honorary chairman of the Georgian Dream Bidzina Ivanishvili, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Speaker of Parliament Shalva Papuashvili, Chairman of the party Irakli Garibashvili and Secretary General Kakha Kaladze. They were accused of "actions against democracy."

The Russian government has relaxed the conditions for obtaining Russian citizenship for the population of the "self-proclaimed republics" of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Previously, citizens of these regions were required to permanently reside in the territory of the Russian Federation for five years, speak Russian, and know the history and basics of Russian legislation. Now these conditions are being cancelled. To obtain a Russian passport, they must submit an application to a Russian diplomatic mission, and if they live in Russia, to a territorial body of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
