A political prisoner of the Crimean Tatar was persuaded to cooperate with the security forces

The wife of a Crimean Tatar political prisoner, Lehman Zekeryaev, visited him in Simferopol detention centre. Since his arrest, he has been in a special unit.
According to his wife, no physical violence was used against Zekeryaev, but he was persuaded to cooperate with the security forces.

It is not known why Lehman was put in the special unit. For the first few months, he was persuaded to cooperate or take on another criminal case, saying: "You’ll get three or four years on parole and get out". But he refused», said the prisoner’s wife.

Lehman Zekeryaev is accused of participating in the Islamic party «Hizb ut-Tahrir», which is prohibited in Russia. In Ukraine and Europe, the party’s activities are legal, and its activists hold mass public events.
