A political prisoner, an Azerbaijani journalist, reported that decisions on his complaints were not transferred

Azerbaijani journalist Polad Aslanov, sentenced to 13 years, reported that the prosecutor’s office did not forward decisions on his complaints.

One of the appeals was related to Aslanov’s hunger strike in protest against the dismissal of his lawyer. In addition, the journalist had his hair shaved off, was sent to prison, and was deprived of visits with family members.

The second complaint concerned his inhumane treatment at the State Security Service. He was kept hungry for several hours, not allowed to contact his lawyer, threatened with pressure on his wife and child, and then forced to confess.

Previously, the Baku police refused to initiate a criminal case on a complaint about the beating of Polad Aslanov in a colony. In this regard, his wife held a number of protests.

The founder and head of the website xeberman.com, Polad Aslanov, was arrested in June 2019 on charges of treason and sentenced to 16 years in prison. Human rights activists recognized him as a political prisoner. Later, the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan reduced his prison term to 13 years.
