Major General Vladimir Kotov, previously deputy head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Voronezh Region, has been appointed Minister of Internal Affairs of Ingushetia. The ceremony to introduce the new head of the department was held in Magas.

The authorities of North Ossetia are strengthening security measures in connection with the increasing number of cases of interethnic conflicts. After a major brawl between residents of Ingushetia and North Ossetia, which took place on August 24 in the area of the Chermensky post, the head of the republic, Sergei Menyailo, instructed law enforcement agencies to close the entrances to the region if similar situations arise.
“We have become more likely to have cases of domestic conflicts that can escalate into larger-scale ones, including interethnic ones. As soon as information about domestic conflicts appeared, we closed the entrances to the republic. We will deal with our own people inside the republic. In such a situation, it is better to be on the safe side,” local media quote the head of North Ossetia as saying.
The incident at the Chermensky post, according to media reports, required the intervention of security forces and the closure of the Kavkaz highway. The clashes involved several dozen people from both sides. According to preliminary data, the cause of the emergency was a domestic conflict. At the same time, officials deny that it was a mass brawl.
The Ministry of Nationalities of North Ossetia called the brawl on the border with Ingushetia a "face-to-face brawl."
"This is an exaggeration. There were two face-to-face brawls. The situation is under the full control of law enforcement agencies," assured the head of the Ossetian Ministry of Nationalities Alan Bagiyev.
The Ministry of Nationalities of Ingushetia also confirmed the fact of the conflict, calling "not to succumb to speculation."
