Life-sentenced Arashukov went on a hunger strike

Raul Arashukov, a former high-ranking employee of Gazprom, went on a hunger strike in a pre-trial detention center because the court refused to acquaint him with the audio recordings of the meetings. The defense explained that the court illegally limited the time for familiarization with the protocols, setting a deadline until July 3.

Earlier, Raul Arashukov and his son Rauf, also a life-sentenced ex-senator from the KChR, complained to the Prosecutor General's Office about the violation of their rights when they read the minutes of the court session. The prisoners at that time were handcuffed. In this form, it was impossible to get acquainted with the document, since the defendants could not turn over the pages and write out anything.

In December 2022, both Arashukovs were sentenced to life imprisonment. They were found guilty in a criminal case on the creation of a criminal community, murders and theft. The investigation considered that Rauf Arashukov, on the order of his father, organized the murders of Aslan Zhukov, deputy chairman of the Adege-Khese youth movement, and Fral Shebzukhov, adviser to the head of the KChR. In addition, the father and son are involved in the theft of gas in the amount of 4.4 billion rubles.
