Former mayor of Makhachkala, sentenced to life, complained about conditions of detention in the colony

Former head of Makhachkala Said Amirov, serving a life sentence in the Black Dolphin colony in the Orenburg region, has filed dozens of lawsuits against the administration of the institution. He, being disabled, demands that the conditions of his detention be improved.

Amirov, who uses a wheelchair, complains about the impossibility of freely exchanging documents during meetings with lawyers, insufficient food and confiscation of food, and the lack of adaptation of the cell to accommodate disabled people. Most of his demands were rejected. At the same time, the administration was held accountable for not issuing food from the prison store.

Amirov has a first-degree disability, he is paralyzed and suffers from diabetes. In 2015, he was sentenced to life imprisonment in a case of organizing murders, banditry and terrorism. Amirov does not admit his guilt. The defense has repeatedly filed complaints about the unacceptable conditions of detention in the colony. The European Court of Human Rights equated his detention with torture.
