Georgia and Azerbaijan are striving to simplify border crossings: the parties plan to introduce a single-window system at joint border crossings.

It is incorrect to speak in the language of blackmail, especially in relation to the government that has fundamentally changed the situation in this country. This was stated by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
“We are fully prepared to reset relations with the US. Over the past three or four years, many things have gone wrong in these relations. We expect fair, pragmatic and friendly steps. Instead of blackmail and threats, we should have a healthy conversation,” Kobakhidze said.
The Georgian Prime Minister also responded to the US advice to prevent China from building the Anaklia deep-water port.
“In order to strengthen our function within the “Middle Corridor”, it is important to have maximum cooperation in the direction of both the West and the East. In this regard, the participation of a Chinese company in the development of the Anaklia project is of particular importance. The effective operation of this port will largely depend on Chinese cargo,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.
The day before, US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O'Brien said that his country does not rule out the possibility of introducing new sanctions against Georgia in the hope that it will change its foreign policy course. He also noted that Washington advises Georgia not to allow China to build the Anaklia port.
