Georgian Prime Minister Calls His Country Closest to Europe

Georgia is getting "as close" to the EU as possible, unlike Ukraine and Moldova. This was stated by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.

Kobakhidze is confident that among the candidate countries, Georgia is the most democratic and corruption-free country, where "the most democratic elections are held" and where the "freest" business is.

"This year or next year - it does not matter to us," the Georgian Prime Minister said about the opening of negotiations on the country's accession to the EU.

In his opinion, the situation in Ukraine and Moldova is different, both politically and economically. He believes that in all directions, these two countries are moving further and further away from the EU. Georgia, on the other hand, is approaching the standards required to join the European Union.

"There are small games, because of these games we were not given candidate status in 2022, but we still received this status in 2023. Even if such games are held now, our country does not face any great risks. In the end, negotiations will definitely be opened,” Irakli Kobakhidze is convinced.
