Georgian Prime Minister disappointed by US and EU decisions to reduce cooperation

The decision by the US and EU to suspend defense exercises and funding is regrettable by the Georgian authorities because it does not meet their expectations. This was stated by Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze at a government meeting.

“In light of the political events of recent years, these relations really need a reset. The Georgian side, our government, the state are ready for this,” the head of government emphasized.

US Deputy Secretary of State Uzra Zeya arrived in Tbilisi today.

“I flew to Tbilisi to emphasize our unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia. The United States is seriously concerned about the anti-democratic actions of the Georgian government, which threaten the Euro-Atlantic future of the country,” she wrote on the social network.

On July 5, the United States announced the temporary suspension of joint military exercises with Georgia. Then the EU Ambassador to Georgia announced that the European Union had suspended support for the country's Ministry of Defense from the European Peace Fund in the amount of 30 million euros and the integration of Georgia.
