The opposition does not enjoy public support and will not be able to succeed on the streets. This was stated by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
According to him, the opposition parties Akhali, National Movement, Lelo and Gakharia – for Georgia are one political force. Kobakhidze is convinced that a healthy political system will be formed only when these parties are replaced by healthy forces. Foreign-funded NGOs have twice tried to oppose the constitutional order, and now they are making a third attempt, they are trying to obstruct the legitimacy of the elections, the Prime Minister noted.
“Right now they do not have the resources to force the government to enter into negotiations, much less to conclude any political agreement that would once again take the country out of the constitutional framework. Therefore, this year the opposition does not have the resources it had several years ago,” Kobakhidze emphasized.
The day before, another opposition protest against the results of the parliamentary elections held on October 26 took place in Tbilisi. Participants gathered in front of the building of the Court of Appeals, which was considering claims to annul the results at some polling stations due to violations. The court postponed the consideration of the cases until November 6.
