Russia has stated its readiness to consider joining the TRIPP project (the transport corridor between Armenia and Azerbaijan). Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova announced at a briefing that Moscow is interested in participating and is prepared to offer Russian Railways' expertise for the project's implementation.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has called on Armenia not to waste time on the path to signing a peace treaty.
“I think we should not waste time. Because when it comes to a peace agreement, the ball is in Armenia’s court,” Aliyev said in Baku at a meeting with participants of the international forum “Towards a New World Order.”
According to him, if Armenia and Azerbaijan sign a peace agreement, this could be a signal for the beginning of cooperation.
“Of course, we cannot imagine how we will immediately become friends with Armenia, this is unrealistic. It is premature to even talk about any economic integration. But we are ready to start taking small steps towards building trust,” Aliyev said.
At the same time, in his opinion, Yerevan is actively militarizing, which is facilitated by its new allies. Aliyev is convinced that these weapons will only lead to potential tensions in the future.
As for the Russian-Ukrainian war, the President of Azerbaijan supported the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
“We ourselves were a country that suffered from occupation,” he summed up.
