In Crimea, police officers issued human rights activist Abdureshit Dzhepparov a warning against violating the law. Law enforcement officials explained the document's origins in connection with the upcoming holiday on May 9th, but such actions typically occur shortly before the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Deportation of the Crimean Tatar People (May 18th).
For several months, a peaceful situation has reigned on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This was stated by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
“There is already de facto peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia. But in order to bring this process to its logical conclusion, it is necessary to sign a peace treaty and put an end to Armenia’s territorial claims against Azerbaijan,” Aliyev said. In his opinion, a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan can be signed after amendments are made to the Constitution of Armenia.
A little earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reported that he proposed to Azerbaijan to conclude a non-aggression pact if the signing of a peace treaty between the countries was delayed. The politician indicated that Armenia is ready to provide long-term guarantees of the absence of territorial claims, but expects the same from the other side.
