During the annual "Year in Review" press conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin, responding to a question about support for young families, noted the tradition of early marriages in the North Caucasus. He said he believed this was "right" and suggested "following their example," citing Ramzan Kadyrov's large family.
While visiting his brother’s grave on Easter on the territory of the “self-proclaimed republic” of South Ossetia, Georgian citizen Ramaz Begeluri was kidnapped for the fifth time. Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili commented on this event.
“The so-called co-religionists who pretend to be defenders of values! They do not know Easter, nor the grave, nor the family, nor the homeland as a whole, and do not know its actual borders, nor the difference between their own and neighboring lands,” Zurabishvili said.
Begeluri was illegally detained while he was at the grave of his 16-year-old brother, who died near the dividing line between South Ossetia and Georgia. The man's family claims that he is very sick and needs constant medical supervision. Begeluri's condition worsened during his last arrest, as he was then severely beaten in the Tskhinvali pre-trial detention center.
Let us remind you that the former territory of Georgia, the “self-proclaimed republic” of South Ossetia is under the actual control of the Russian Federation.
