54-year-old Amina Garaeva, a doctor of medical sciences and professor at the I.M. Sechenov Moscow State Medical University, has been held in the Pechatniki-6 pretrial detention center in Moscow since September 2025. She is charged with bribery as an intermediary (subparagraph "b" of Part 3 of Article 291.1 of the Russian Criminal Code).

According to the Telegram channel "Bloody Lady," Garaeva suffered a hypertensive crisis during her detention. A renal artery aneurysm was diagnosed prior to her arrest.

According to lawyer Tatyana Morozova, her client's health was not properly assessed when deciding on her continued detention. The defense requested that her arrest be replaced with another preventive measure, but the court denied the motion. The lawyer claims that investigative actions against Garayeva began only 11 months after her placement in custody. After their completion, the court again extended her pretrial detention.

"Since the investigative actions have already been completed, the court assumes responsibility for the risk of my client's death in pretrial detention," Morozova stated.

Garaeva was born in Grozny. Before joining Sechenov University, she worked for several medical institutions in Moscow, including Botkin Hospital. In November 2025, Sechenov University announced that Garayeva had resigned and was no longer a professor there.
