Putin commented on Armenia’s reluctance to attend meetings of pro-Russian structures

The absence of the Prime Minister of Armenia at the CIS and CSTO summits is associated with certain processes and is not related to the desire or unwillingness to work in these associations. It is not in the interests of Armenia to terminate membership in these structures. Russian President Vladimir Putin stated this during a direct line.

Putin also noted that it was not Russia that abandoned Nagorno-Karabakh - it was Armenia that recognized it as part of Azerbaijan. According to the president, the Armenian partners “did not specifically inform the Russian side about the adoption of such a decision.”

Previously, Armenia refused to participate in the meeting of the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, held in Moscow on December 19. On November 30, a representative of the country was not present at the working meeting of participants of the CSTO member countries in Skopje (North Macedonia). On November 23, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan ignored the CSTO meeting in Minsk. On November 25, he accused Russian television channels of destabilizing the situation in Armenia. In addition, Yerevan is actively developing relations with the West, which causes a negative reaction from the Russian Federation.
