North Caucasus Federal District Regions Rank Last in Family Financial Well-Being

According to a study conducted by RIA Novosti using Rosstat statistics, the North Caucasus republics ranked last in the 2025 rankings for family financial well-being. The assessment was based on the remaining funds of two-earner households with the regional median salary after deducting essential expenses.

For example, in North Ossetia, a family with two children has approximately 3,900 rubles in available funds after all mandatory payments. In Karachay-Cherkessia, this amount does not exceed 1,900. A more alarming picture is observed in neighboring regions: in Dagestan, the deficit is 2,800 rubles, in Kabardino-Balkaria, the deficit reaches 9,900, and in Chechnya, 13,200. The worst indicators are recorded in Ingushetia, where families with two children are short 13,400 rubles to cover their basic needs.

For the second year in a row, the North Caucasus regions have performed the worst in such rankings. The situation in 2024 was similar: households with two minor children in these republics also experienced budgetary difficulties, lacking sufficient funds for basic needs, which was reflected in a negative balance.

The Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug topped the list. The average family there has an income of 141,300 rubles after meeting basic needs. For raising one child, this figure increases to 163,100 rubles.
