The North Caucasus Federal District has the lowest wine consumption in Russia

The republics of the North Caucasus demonstrate the lowest rates of sparkling wine consumption in Russia. In the first seven months of 2025, this figure did not exceed 0.2 liters per person in Ingushetia, Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, and Chechnya.

This trend corresponds to the traditionally low level of alcohol consumption in these regions. For comparison, the average for Russia is 0.78 liters of sparkling wine per person. Sevastopol, Moscow Region, and St. Petersburg are the leaders in consumption of the drink (1.3-1.4 liters). Broader statistics for March 2025 also confirm low alcohol consumption in the North Caucasus Federal District: in Chechnya - 0.13 liters per person, in Ingushetia - 0.63 liters, in Dagestan - 0.81 liters.
