A 19-year-old conscript soldier from Dagestan has suffered memory loss after suffering a severe head injury, allegedly as a result of a beating at a military unit in the Voronezh Region. He is currently undergoing treatment in Moscow.
Shamil Khadulaev, head of the Public Monitoring Commission for Dagestan, stated that despite the official version of events regarding a fall from a tower, there is reason to believe the soldier was brutally beaten and that command is attempting to cover it up. The Ministry of National Policy of Dagestan announced it has launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
"Employees of the Ministry of Nationalities of Dagestan are in contact with the young man's parents. The ministry will provide the necessary assistance for a comprehensive, objective investigation of the incident," reads a statement published on the ministry's Telegram channel.
