The natural disaster that struck the North Caucasus and southern Russia continues to cause serious damage. Flooded homes, hail-destroyed crops, overturned ships, and human tragedies—the consequences of this unruly weather are becoming increasingly tangible.
US President Donald Trump has announced the introduction of customs duties on imports of goods from many countries around the world. Among the latter are the countries of the South Caucasus.
In particular, customs duties on imports of products from Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia will be 10%. As the head of the US Treasury Department Bessent notes, the list of countries does not include the Russian Federation, since American sanctions have already effectively stopped bilateral trade.
With regard to imports from China, the United States is introducing customs duties of 34%, from India - 26%, from the EU countries - 20%. Trump said that for decades the United States "has been plundered, raped and plundered by nations near and far, by friends and foes alike." According to him, the duties are being introduced "to help restore the US economy and prevent fraud."
