The Georgian Parliament has expeditiously passed a bill in its third and final reading requiring organizers of protests in "places where people gather or where vehicles are moving" (including on sidewalks) to notify the police. The responsible person must contact the Patrol Service Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (located at the location of the demonstration) in writing no later than five days before the rally.
18 residents of the Magaramkent district of Dagestan were hospitalized in moderate and mild conditions after being poisoned by drinking water. In total, over 100 people sought medical attention with signs of intestinal infection.
The citizens drank water supplied to their homes through water pipes. They showed symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, fever, and diarrhea.
Rospotrebnadzor specialists are studying the sources of infection, and the Dagestan Ministry of Health sent infectious disease specialists and epidemiologists to the district. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Dagestan opened a criminal case on the fact of providing services that do not meet consumer health safety requirements.
Such poisonings are not uncommon in Dagestan. Thus, at the beginning of June 2024, at least 228 people were hospitalized in Buynaksk. In addition, last year Rospotrebnadzor recognized water in the districts of Makhachkala and its suburbs as dangerous for drinking.
