Property worth over 2 billion rubles confiscated from former State Duma deputy from Dagestan

A Dagestani court has ruled that former State Duma deputy Magomed Gadzhiev and individuals associated with him are members of an extremist organization. As a result of this decision, assets belonging to Gadzhiev and his relatives, worth over 2 billion rubles, have been seized.

The basis for the confiscation was the lack of evidence of the legal origin of these funds. The investigation revealed that the property was registered to the former deputy's immediate family and trusted associates. The seized assets included company shares, cash, and real estate, including land and commercial buildings. The assets belonged to Gadzhiev's son, sister, and partner.

The decision was made to prevent the financing of activities that pose a threat to Russia's security. Designating Gadzhiev and his relatives as members of an extremist organization entails further legal consequences.

Magomed Gadzhiev served as a State Duma deputy for United Russia from 2004 to 2019. After the start of the "SVO," he reportedly left Russia and created an organization criticizing the actions of the Russian military and supporting Ukrainian military units. He was also designated a foreign agent.
