In 2019, the European Parliament adopted a resolution calling on Russia to release all Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar political prisoners. The Islamic political party "Hizb ut-Tahrir" was recognized as terrorist in the Russian Federation at a closed court session. Human rights activists believe that this decision was made unreasonably, in violation of publicity and equality of arms. In Ukraine and other countries, the party operates legally.
