Crimean Tatar political prisoner in prison was deprived of the Koran

Ruslan Mesutov, a Crimean Tatar political prisoner, visited a lawyer in a prison in the Lipetsk region. He said that, since November 2022, a book sacred to Muslims, the Qur'an, had been confiscated from his trust.

In addition, the Crimean Tatar had difficulties with nutrition, as pork was introduced into the basic diet. According to religious beliefs, Ruslan Mesutov does not eat such food. The Muslims serving time in the facility had written an appeal to the prison authorities, but the food problem had not been resolved.

Mesutov was involved in the standard for Crimean Tatars criminal case of «Hizb ut-Tahrir» - Islamic political party, which is prohibited in Russia. On the territory of Ukraine and most countries of the world, the organization operates without restrictions at the level of national legislation. On the basis of participation in it, the man is charged with paragraph 1 of article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation («Organization of activities of a terrorist organization») and paragraph 1 of art. 30 and art. 278 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation («Preparation for the forcible seizure of power by an organized group by prior conspiracy»).
