Азербайджанский оппозиционный журналист Афган Мухтарлы прокомментировал домашний арест и уголовное преследование бывшего главы администрации президента страны Рамиза Мехтиева, назвав его логичным и символичным.

Crimean Tatar journalist Amet Suleimanov, who was sentenced to 12 years, reported a deterioration in his health. While serving his sentence in the Vladimir Central prison, he continues to suffer from high blood pressure; he has had a second hypertensive crisis.
Suleimanov's vision is also deteriorating - doctors have diagnosed hypertensive retinal angiopathy. Without treatment, the prisoner faces blindness.
In 2024, the courts in Vladimir refused to release Amet Suleimanov, despite the fact that his illnesses are on the list of those incompatible with the conditions of imprisonment. He also did not undergo the necessary surgery to replace his heart valve.
In 2019, the Southern District Military Court, despite numerous statements from the defense about Suleimanov's health, sentenced him to 12 years in a maximum-security prison colony for his participation in the Islamic party Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is banned in the Russian Federation. His lawyer, Lilia Gemedzhi, believes the sentence is fatal: "They sentenced him to die. Imprisonment for a person with such a diagnosis is cynical."
