The British Embassy in Georgia responded to Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze's statement that London should apologize for a "fake" spread by the BBC. This refers to the British Broadcasting Corporation's controversial report alleging that Georgian authorities used a World War I-era chemical weapon called "kamit" to suppress anti-government protests.
The Armenian authorities will consider the extradition of Salman Mukayev, a native of Chechnya, to the Russian Federation. Russian law enforcement officers opened a criminal case against him for illegal possession of ammunition. The man has been put on the wanted list, but human rights activists are sure of his innocence.
At the beginning of 2021, in Chechnya, security forces tortured Mukaev due to suspicions of non-traditional sexual orientation. Human rights activists noted that these accusations are false. The young man managed to leave for Armenia. However, due to being put on the wanted list in Russia, the Armenian authorities refuse to let him go to Europe, where they are ready to provide the Chechen with political asylum. Earlier, Mukaev tried to escape to Europe, but the border guards did not let him through.
