Armenia rules out use of force in relations with Azerbaijan

Armenia is considering a use of force only in the case of defense against aggression. This was reported by the press secretary of the country's Foreign Ministry Ani Badalyan. In this way, she commented on Azerbaijan's accusations of "militarization" and preparation for a use of force.

"There are no such issues on Armenia's agenda. The use of military force could only concern the return of more than 200 square kilometers of Armenian territory occupied by Azerbaijan, but even here Yerevan does not set the task of using force. All actions of the republic in the border area are based exclusively on defensive logic, and the current agenda is based on advancing the peace process," Badalyan said.

The ministry also noted that Yerevan confirms its commitment to the peace process and calls on Baku to begin consultations on signing a peace agreement.

Since March 16, Azerbaijan has regularly reported shelling of its positions by the Armenian Armed Forces, but Yerevan rejects these accusations each time.
