Armenia reminds that it is not obliged to change the Constitution

As part of the ongoing negotiation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated that Yerevan has no obligations to amend the country's Constitution. According to him, this issue was not discussed during the talks in Washington between the leaders of the states Ilham Aliyev and Nikol Pashinyan.

"The Constitution was not discussed in Washington, and we are not obliged to change our main document in front of any third party; there is peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan from now on," Mirzoyan said.

He stressed the importance of the peace established between Baku and Yerevan for the region. In addition, the minister noted the opportunities provided by the unblocking of regional communications, and also reported on the upcoming work to implement the relevant declaration signed in Washington.

This statement came in response to the position of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, which makes the signing of a peace agreement with Armenia conditional on the introduction of constitutional amendments that exclude any territorial claims against Baku.
