Azerbaijan Recalls Main Obstacle to Peace with Armenia
In order to sign a peace agreement, Azerbaijan and Armenia must complete work on its text. This was recalled by the Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan Elchin Amirbekov.

“We positively assess the prospects for reaching an agreement on some open issues still remaining in the text,” he noted.

According to Amirbekov, the main obstacle to the successful completion of the peace process is the ongoing territorial claims against Azerbaijan, enshrined in the Constitution of Armenia. For the peace to be sustainable and irreversible, Armenia must make appropriate amendments to its basic law to exclude its claims regarding Karabakh.

“Today, there are indeed very good chances to reach an agreement, but the ball is in Armenia’s court, which must make the right decision,” Amirbekov concluded.
