Number of political prisoners increased in Azerbaijan

From April to July, the number of political prisoners in Azerbaijan increased from 182 to 204 people. This was announced by the Union "For Freedom of Political Prisoners in Azerbaijan".

Among the new members of the list are opposition politician, chairman of the Azerbaijan Democracy and Welfare Party Gubad Ibadoglu, former MP, public figure Nazim Beydemirli, member of the Popular Front of Azerbaijan party Elkham Aliyev and others. The list of political prisoners includes journalists and bloggers, including Polad Aslanov, Osman Narimanoglu, Bakhtiyar Hajiyev, Rashad Ramazanov and Aslan Gurbanov. Also on the list were members of opposition parties and movements, including Alizamin Salaev, Niyameddin Akhmedov, Shahin Gadzhiev, Agil Gumbatov. Among the political prisoners there are emigrants who came to Azerbaijan, Muslim believers and representatives of other categories persecuted by the authorities.
