In Chechnya and the KBR, regular contract soldiers who did not want to go to war in Ukraine were sentenced to real terms

The Grozny and Nalchik garrison military courts sentenced two servicemen to five and a half years in prison. Ilsur Fatkhutdinov and Renat Pirov were found guilty of leaving the military unit after the start of the war between the Russian Federation and Ukraine.

It follows from the Fatkhutdinov case that he was in the combat zone in Ukraine from February to July 2022 and witnessed the death of his colleagues. This had a negative psychological impact on him, as reported by relatives and a lawyer. After that, the contractor did not appear in the military unit and was at home.

Pirov was also charged with absence from service before and after the announcement of mobilization. All this time he was at home.

Since March 2023, the courts of the Southern Military District have considered dozens of cases against soldiers who left the unit due to their unwillingness to fight against Ukraine.
