In Dagestan, two police officers were sentenced to four years for brutally beating a man

The Derbent City Court found two employees of the local police department guilty of exceeding official powers with the use of violence and causing grave consequences (part 3 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), as well as of intentionally causing grievous bodily harm (Article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Patrol inspector Gasan Adalov and operative duty officer Magomed Yunusov were sentenced to four years in prison in a penal colony.

In 2017, Temirkhan Amakhanov was beaten up by two law enforcers, first in his official car and then at the police station. A 59-year-old man was diagnosed with a rupture of the spleen and small intestine, as well as a fracture of the phalanx of the left finger. Amakhanov was operated on, and the doctors were forced to remove the spleen.
