On September 6, rescuers discovered the body of a 20-year-old man who drowned on August 25 near the village of Shamilkala on the Irganay Reservoir in Dagestan. It is reported to be at a depth of approximately 60 meters. The body has not yet been recovered, as rescuers are awaiting additional equipment.
The search lasted over a week. Due to the depth of over 50 meters and the complex bottom topography, conventional diving was impossible. Remotely operated underwater vehicles and echo sounders were used. On September 3, an additional unit from the Southern Regional Search and Rescue Team of the Ministry of Emergency Situations joined the operation with RB-600 and Mirage underwater vehicles.
The tragedy occurred on August 25. A group of young people went paddleboarding on the Irganay Reservoir. During the ride, one of the young men lost his balance and went underwater. According to RIA Dagestan, the missing man's name is Khamzat. His last name has not been officially released.
