All patients poisoned by drinking water have been discharged in Dagestan

The last 15 patients who were treated after mass poisoning by drinking water have been discharged from the hospital in the Magaramkent district of Dagestan. In total, 450 people sought medical treatment as a result of the outbreak of acute intestinal infection that affected five villages of the municipality. Mostly children were affected - 422 out of 450 people poisoned by drinking water.

The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee for Dagestan opened a criminal case under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet consumer safety requirements"). As part of the investigation, the director of the MBU "Housing and Communal Services" of the Magaramkent district was arrested, and searches were conducted in the district administration.

The Ministry of Construction of Dagestan identified violations in the operation of water supply systems, including the lack of water disinfection. Rospotrebnadzor determined that the spread of the infection was facilitated by the lack of water treatment, the lack of registration of accidents on the water main, and the failure to inform the relevant services.
