Berlin has recalled its ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, for consultations. The decision, made by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadepoel, is intended to determine how to proceed, the ministry announced.

The latest actions, statements and election promises of the ruling party of Georgia are taking the country away from the path to Europe and indicate a deviation towards authoritarianism. This was stated by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.
He noted that it is necessary to wait for the results of the upcoming parliamentary elections in October. They will be a decisive test for Georgia's democracy and its path to EU membership. Borrell drew an analogy between Georgia and Moldova, which has made progress towards joining the European Union despite pressure from Russia.
Ahead of the parliamentary elections, the ruling party of Georgia "Georgian Dream" placed new banners on the streets of cities. They depict representatives of the opposition and a hand holding them on leashes, and the inscription reads: "No to war! No to agents." The founder of the Georgian Dream, billionaire oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili, has repeatedly announced the upcoming ban on opposition parties.
Earlier, Tbilisi residents began to paint the ruling party's election advertisements with the phrase "Russian Dream". We are talking about billboards consisting of two parts: photos of bombed buildings in Ukraine with the inscription "No to war" and a photo of Georgian infrastructure with the caption "Choose peace".
