The European Union has stated that Georgia will not join the organization under the current government
Georgia will never become a member of the European Union under the current government. This was stated by the EU Ambassador to Georgia Pavel Gerchinsky. According to him, members of the Georgian government are far from the values of the European Union and are disqualifying people from membership in it.

"I very much hope that after the October parliamentary elections we will return to the path to the EU, which has been suspended at this stage. The EU is ready to resume negotiations with Georgia if it has a democratic government," the diplomat added.

Gerchinsky stated that over the past few months, everything has been done to open the doors for Georgia thanks to the merits of the brave Ukrainian people, "who defend not only their country, but also the civilized world."

"But what happened after you received candidate status? Most of the population, opposition parties want to join the European Union, but the government disqualifies people from membership in it," Gerchinsky was indignant.

A march in support of the path to the European Union will be held in Tbilisi on October 20. This was reported by the NGO "My Voice for Europe".

Recall that the law "On Transparency of Foreign Influence" initiated by the ruling party and already in force was perceived by the opposition and the West as an analogue of the Russian legislation "on foreign agents", which contradicts European values. At the same time, Georgia officially strives to join the EU and maintains relations with NATO.

Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili openly criticizes the policy of the "Georgian Dream", noting that "its pro-Russian orientation is becoming more and more obvious with each passing day".

"By adopting pro-Russian laws, it is impossible to go to the EU, and the "Georgian Dream" has been repeatedly reminded of this in the West. Acting in this way, you will not be able to enter the European Union. But this window is open for the Georgian people, who have a chance, as democracy requires," the president recently stated.
