Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze posed for a photo with several politicians, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a forum in Turkmenistan dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust. The Georgian opposition interpreted the presence of representatives of the ruling Georgian Dream party at the event alongside Putin as a decision to reconsider the country's foreign policy.
46 deputies of the Parliament of Georgia appealed to Chairman Shalva Papuashvili with a request to allow them to meet with Mikheil Saakashvili. They also demanded that representatives of the European Parliament and the Ombudsman be allowed to see the former president.
The day before, supporters of the ex-president demanded that Polish doctors be allowed to meet with him, as well as to give him the opportunity to travel abroad for treatment.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky criticized the Georgian authorities for the fact that Saakashvili, who is under arrest, looks extremely exhausted after a long hunger strike, and asked to be released to Kyiv. The Georgian Foreign Ministry called Volodymyr Zelensky's demand interference in the country's internal affairs. The head of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, in turn, replied that Saakashvili's state of health was assessed by doctors after an examination, and he would be transferred from the clinic to prison only after the permission of the doctors.
