Georgia to Actually Appoint a New President

The Georgian Parliament has approved the date of the presidential elections in the country – December 14. The new head will be elected for 5 years. The term of the current President Salome Zurabishvili expires on December 16.
Salome Zurabishvili will be the last president elected by direct vote. On December 14, the election will be held by an electoral college of 300 electors. According to the opposition, the ruling Georgian Dream party will essentially appoint its own person.
The opposition TV channel Mtavari named two possible candidates: former Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili (current chairman of the Georgian Dream) and the son of the first president of the country Konstantin Gamsakhurdia (director of the National Parliamentary Library).
The current President Salome Zurabishvili is opposed to the Georgian Dream and the government it formed. Earlier, she stated that the Georgian Parliament no longer exists after the election fraud.
"The Parliament and the ruling team ignored the Constitution. I feel very sorry for them. First of all, I feel sorry for Prime Minister Kobakhidze as the one who wrote this Constitution. It seems that he was unable to calculate some things, otherwise there would be no need to ignore the Constitution," Zurabishvili shared.
