Georgia Removes Exam Questions on the Georgian People's Struggle with the Russian Empire
In Georgia, questions about the uprisings against the Russian Empire in the first half of the 19th century have been removed from school history exams. In addition, several works by Georgian poets have been removed from the Georgian language and literature curriculum.

"The regime in Tbilisi today is so anti-Georgian and pro-Russian that it is practically a continuation of the pro-Russian policy that they have been pursuing all this time," historian Temo Papaskiri said in a commentary to TV Pirveli.

Georgian President Zurabishvili noted that the changes reflect state policy aimed at ousting national-patriotic ideas.

The Georgian Ministry of Education stated that exam tests now cover only the mandatory school curriculum and "serve the interests of applicants."
