Georgia sums up election results, protesters take to the streets
The Central Election Commission of Georgia has approved the results of the parliamentary elections held on October 26. According to the final protocol, the ruling Georgian Dream party won, receiving 53.93% of the votes and 89 mandates out of 150.
The For Change coalition gained 11.03% (19 mandates), Unity - National Movement - 10.17% (16), the Strong Georgia coalition - 8.81% (14), Giorgi Gakharia's For Georgia - 7.78% (12).
Opposition parties refuse to recognize the election results, claiming massive falsifications. The head of the Central Election Commission of Georgia signed the final protocol of the parliamentary elections.
Protests are taking place in front of the Central Election Commission building. Law enforcement officers attempted to push the rally participants off the road and onto the sidewalk, which caused the confrontation between citizens and the police to escalate.
