Georgia asked to pardon Mikheil Saakashvili

In Tbilisi, where the President of Georgia sits, they brought signatures asking to pardon Mikheil Saakashvili. Many of his supporters gathered at the site with signatures.

According to the opposition National Movement, a total of almost 200 thousand signatures have been collected since mid-February. According to his supporters, “even more people agree with Saakashvili’s release.”

Earlier, Saakashvili’s lawyer, founder of the opposition TV channel “Mtavari Arkhi” Nika Gvaramia teamed up with the ex-leader of the “United National Movement” Nika Melia. Together they presented the Akhali party (translated from Georgian as “New”), which will participate in the parliamentary elections scheduled for October 26.

Mikheil Saakashvili has been under observation at the Vivamedi clinic for more than a year and a half. He returned to Georgia from Ukraine at the end of September 2021 and was arrested, having been sentenced in absentia to imprisonment in two criminal cases. After his arrest, Saakashvili went on hunger strike three times.
