A political movement has been created in Georgia to prevent it from “turning into a Russian province”

Four months before the parliamentary elections in Georgia, representatives of the non-governmental sector founded the political movement “Freedom Square”. Its leader was Levan Tsutskiridze, who was a prominent figure during the protests against the law on foreign agents.

The goals of the movement are “to prevent Georgia from turning into a Russian province, to defeat the current government in parliamentary elections, to establish real democracy and to achieve EU membership.”

The day before, the opposition TV channel Mtavari reported that there were three high-ranking Georgian officials on the list of persons sanctioned by the US State Department. These are top-ranking police leaders: Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri, head of the criminal police Teimuraz Kupatadze and head of the patrol police Vazha Siradze. They and their family members are prohibited from entering the United States.

Earlier, Netgazeti reported that the United States imposed visa sanctions against member of the political council of the ruling party Dito Samkharadze, head of Georgian special forces Zviad Kharazishvili (Khareb), leader of the Georgian Dream in parliament Mamuka Mdinaradze, and deputy Anri Okhanashvili.
