A large-scale action under the slogan “Yes to Europe, no to Russian law” starts in Georgia

Today in Tbilisi there will be protests again against the law on foreign agents. A large-scale protest against the government's actions will begin on Republic Square. “Yes to Europe, no to Russian law” - this is the slogan of the protesters. The action was initiated by public organizations, which were joined by opposition parties.

The country's ruling Georgian Dream party has planned a rally in its support on Rustaveli Avenue for April 29.
The “pro-Russian” law on foreign agents, previously initiated by her and approved by the Georgian parliament in the first reading, was criticized by the European Parliament, senators and the US State Department, as well as the governments of European countries.

The party of former Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia “For Georgia” also reacted.

“The recent letter from US senators and the European Parliament resolution regarding the Russian law clearly demonstrate that the policies of the Georgian government are leading to the rupture of the strategic partnership with the United States and undermining the process of integration into the European Union. The Georgian Dream serves Russia's strategic goal of isolating Georgia from its friends, hampering its development, introducing Russian-style authoritarianism, and provoking civil confrontation. We call on the ruling party to withdraw the law, return to the constitutional framework, hold free and fair elections and return the country to normal, democratic development,” the party’s statement said.
