Suspects in the murder of a former official's son arrested in Ingushetia

The Nazran District Court has arrested brothers Movsar and Ilez Gagiyev until June 15. They are accused of murdering Mustafa Katsiev, the son of the former head of the rural settlement of Ekazhevo in the Nazran District of Ingushetia, Magomed-Bashir Katsiev. During interrogation, the detainees refused to testify.

The case is being investigated under the article "Murder committed by a group of persons, a group of persons by prior conspiracy, or an organized group" (paragraph "g" of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). It provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 8 to 20 years or life imprisonment.

According to the investigation, on the evening of April 14 in Ekazhevo, two brothers shot Katsiev at least five times. He received multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and died on the way to the hospital. The conflict could have been caused by a dispute over a land plot. Law enforcement officers are identifying other persons who may have been involved in the crime, the Investigative Committee reported.
