Billionaire Ruben Vardanyan, a former minister in the government of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and former Russian citizen who was sentenced to 20 years in prison in Azerbaijan, has appealed to the Armenian Ombudsman, Anahit Manasyan, through his family. While in a Baku prison, Vardanyan reported his recent meeting with the Azerbaijani Ombudsman, Sabina Aliyeva.
Another serviceman in the KBR was sentenced to five years
Serviceman Ali Kochaliyev from Kabardino-Balkaria was sentenced by the Nalchik Garrison Military Court to five years of imprisonment. He was found guilty of unauthorized abandonment of a military unit stationed in Stavropol.
According to the case materials, Kochaliyev did not report for duty on April 29, 2025. The defendant admitted his guilt and expressed regret.
Earlier, the Nalchik Garrison Military Court has repeatedly sentenced contract soldiers and mobilized personnel to real prison terms. In particular, Algiz Valitov received two years in prison, Amerkhan Kurskiyev received five years. Arsen Baev and Murat Khapov were sentenced to seven and five years in prison, respectively.
