The Kremlin called the assignment of Georgia the status of a candidate for EU accession to a desire to “annoy Russia”

The decision of Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova to join the EU is their sovereign matter, but politicization is visible here. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

“Each time this desire to demonstrate such political will [on the part of the European Union] is done largely based on the desire to annoy Russia even more and antagonize these countries in relation to Russia,” Peskov noted.

Let us remind you that the day before Georgia received the status of a candidate to join the European Union. Also at the last summit, it was decided to begin negotiations on the issue of accession to the EU for Ukraine and Moldova.
